Telling a treatment which products it uses

A treatment can carry the products it normally uses, with the quantity, unit, instrument and depth you normally give them at. Set it once and the map stops being a free-text box.

Why it is worth ten minutes

Until now nothing told the app what a treatment uses, so the product box on a treatment map was empty free text. That is how one product ends up in your records as three spellings, and it is why stock deduction so often did nothing: deduction matches the name you typed against your Stock list, and a typed name frequently matched nothing at all.

Setting it up

1. Go to Settings > Treatments and open the treatment.
2. Find the Products section and its Products used list.
3. Press Add product and search.
4. Fill in Default quantity, Unit, Instrument and Depth for each line. All four are optional; the quantity is the one worth setting.
5. Save the treatment.

Remove a line with the small cross beside its name. A treatment can carry as many products as it needs.

Two places the search looks

• Your products first: your own Stock list, which is what deduction matches against.
• Product library second: our reference list of the common brands, so you do not have to type out a filler range before you can use it.

Picking from the library adds that product to your Stock list the first time, so the map can deduct it. It is created once and reused after that, so picking the same library product on five treatments does not give you five stock rows. Set its levels, cost and low-stock threshold on the Stock page in the usual way.

If a search finds nothing, add the product under Stock first and then come back and pick it.

Products you have used before

Underneath the list you may see You have used these on this treatment before. Those names are read out of your past records, so the spelling is whatever somebody typed at the time. Tap one to search for it. Nothing is added until you actually pick a product, so a chip reading rha1 is a prompt to find the real one, not a line waiting to be saved.

What it gives you

When you open the treatment map on a record for that treatment, the drawer offers the treatment's own products as a list. Tap one, then tap the image to place it. Because the point then carries a real product out of your Stock list rather than a name somebody typed, sign-off can deduct it. See How stock auto-deduction works and Signing off a treatment record.

You can still type a product name that is not on the list, exactly as before. A treatment with no products set gets no list, which is the state every record was in until now, so nothing you do today stops working.

The default quantity is what the treatment normally uses. It does not fix the dose: what you record on the day is whatever you actually gave.

Merging treatments

If you merge two duplicate treatments, their product lists are combined rather than one replacing the other, so a merge is never blocked by one of them carrying products. Where both name the same product, the treatment you are keeping wins and the duplicate's line is dropped.
