Setting up prescribers

Before anyone can request a prescription, set up who prescribes for your clinic in Settings > Prescribing. Only a clinic owner can open this page. It has three parts, plus the emergency kit register.

Prescribers

The Prescribers table lists your active staff with a Yes or No badge. Press Make prescriber next to a qualified team member, or Remove prescriber to take it away. Only staff marked as prescribers can approve prescription requests addressed to them (an owner who is also a prescriber can approve any clinic prescriber's request), and only they can be named as a treatment's supervising prescriber. A prescriber also needs clinical access: without it they keep their prescriber status but cannot open or sign prescriptions. The owner can change this under Settings > Team > Access on the person's card.

Giving a prescriber clinical access

1. Open the person's card under Settings > Team > Access.
2. Tick Clinical record, then press Save access.
3. Changing this switch needs a two-step verified session. If asked, enter your authenticator code. If you have not set up two-step verification, you are taken to set it up first. Return to the person's Access card and save the change after verification.

This switch controls treatment records and the face map, photos and compare, prescriptions, clinical documents, completed form answers, the scribe and clinical exports. Bookings, contact details, alerts and chairside payment stay available either way. An owner's access is always on and cannot be changed. See Two-step verification.

External prescribers

If a prescriber outside your clinic consults your patients face-to-face and signs prescriptions themselves, add them under External prescribers with Add prescriber: their Name and Registration no. are required, and you can record an email and phone. They then appear as an option when building a request. Edit their details inline and press Save, or Archive a prescriber you no longer work with.

Prescription items

The Prescription items catalogue is the list of medicines offered as suggestions when building a request, for example Botulinum toxin type A 100u. Add the items you commonly request so requests are consistent and quick to build; rename or archive items at any time.

One rule that never changes

However prescribers are set up, approval always requires a face-to-face consultation with the patient. Neither approval route offers an alternative to that confirmation. The record does not independently verify the consultation. See also Emergency kit register and treatment supervision.
