Emergency and complications guidance: where to find it
Last updated
In an emergency, call 999 without delay. AesthetiClinic does not publish clinical emergency guidance. Use the current guidance from the bodies below, your clinic's own written protocols, your training and your insurer's requirements.
Where to find current guidance
- Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions. Resuscitation Council UK: Emergency treatment of anaphylactic reactions: guidelines for healthcare providers.
- Filler and toxin complications. The Aesthetic Complications Expert (ACE) Group guidelines, published in the Journal of Clinical and Aesthetic Dermatology, and the Guideline for the management of hyaluronic acid filler-induced vascular occlusion.
- Needlestick and sharps injuries. UKHSA: Bloodborne viruses in healthcare workers. Seek urgent assessment through occupational health or A&E.
- Medicines and products. The manufacturer's official product information (SmPC) on the Electronic Medicines Compendium.
- Standards and your scope of practice. Your professional regulator (NMC, GMC or GDC) and your insurer.
How AesthetiClinic helps you follow your own protocol
- Emergency kit register. Find it under Settings > Prescribing. Items expiring within 60 days are highlighted amber and expired items red.
- Log complication. Use this button in Complications on the patient's record to record an event. Review logged events under Reports > Complications. See Logging a complication and Clinical reports.
- Allergies. The patient's record has an Allergies card for recording and reviewing allergies.
