Adding a treatment to a visit that is already in the diary

The patient is with you, the consultation has turned into a treatment, or they have asked for something else while they are in the chair. You can add a treatment to a visit that is already in the diary, without rebooking anything.

Adding it

Open the appointment in the diary and use Also had in the panel. Choose the treatment and add it.

When the time after the visit is free

The treatment is added straight after the visit, allowing for the gap the two treatments ask for between them. The visit runs longer and nothing else in the day moves.

When it is not free

If the next patient is already in that time, nothing is added and you are told what is in the way. The panel then offers to fit the treatment inside this visit instead, so the visit keeps exactly the window it already had and nothing else in the diary moves. Press it and the appointment stays as one entry in the column, now listing both treatments.

A fit can be refused in one case: where the visit's treatments have a gap between them and somebody else's appointment is sitting in that gap. The message names that appointment, and moving it is the only way through.

Why the consultation stays

The consultation keeps its own place on the visit rather than being replaced by the treatment that followed it. The record that a consultation happened is worth having in its own right, so nothing overwrites it.

What is not offered yet

Extending the visit over the next patient is not available. Today a treatment is either added after the visit, when that time is free, or fitted inside the visit's own time. If you want the visit to run into the next appointment, move that appointment first.
