Drag an appointment to move it

Nothing you have set up has changed. No setting moved, no appointment moved, nothing has been sent to anybody, and your reminders and confirmations work exactly as they did.

Two things are now available. You can drag an appointment to move it, and you can, if you choose, have us tell the patient when you do. Until today we never told them and the help centre said to ring them yourself, which was honest but not much of an answer.

What is now available

  • Drag an appointment on the calendar to move it. Pick it up, drop it on the new time, and in day view drag it sideways to hand it to another practitioner. No drawer, no Save.
  • Thirty seconds to undo. A bar appears at the bottom telling you where it went and whether the patient is being told. Undo puts it back and stops the message. Nothing you cannot take back happens inside that window.
  • The patient can be told when it matters: a different day, a different practitioner, or more than fifteen minutes on the same day. The message shows the old time and the new one. Tidying a booking by five minutes sends nothing. This one is off until you switch it on, because we will not start emailing your patients without you asking us to.
  • Reminders keep up once the message is on. A reminder already sent for the old date is stood down and re-sent ahead of the new one, so nobody is left holding the wrong day.
  • Visits with several treatments move together, in order, gaps intact.

Anything already paid stays with the booking, double-booking protection is unchanged, and the freed slot still goes to your waitlist.

What you may want to do

  • Decide whether you want patients told. Go to Settings, then Messaging, and under Booking switch on Appointment moved. Read the wording while you are there and change it to sound like you. We would switch it on, but it is your clinic and your patients, which is exactly why it is not on already.
  • You will be reminded. Until it is on, every time you move a patient the bar at the bottom tells you they are not being told, and names the setting. No hunting.
  • Try dragging something harmless first, like a blocked-out lunch, to get the feel of it. Blocked time never messages anybody.

The full detail, including what you cannot drag and why, is in Moving an appointment in the help centre.
