Taking, uploading and organising patient photos
Last updated
The Photos tab on the patient record is built for in-room use on a phone or tablet. You need clinical access to use it.
Adding a photo
- Choose the Kind first: Before, After or Other. This drives the before/after comparison view. Set the Date taken (today is pre-filled) and, if you like, Link to treatment record (optional), so the photo sits alongside the clinical detail of that visit. If there is exactly one treatment record for today, it is selected automatically. These apply to the next photos you take or upload; photos already taken keep what they were taken with.
- Press Take photo to use the device camera, or Upload to pick existing images, up to 10 at once.
Each photo saves as soon as it is taken, so you can take several in a row. The list beside the buttons shows each one as Waiting to upload, Uploading…, Saved or Not saved. A failed upload offers Retry where trying again can help, and Discard to remove it from the queue. Photos are compressed on your device before upload, so large phone photos upload quickly, and the file's location data is stripped for privacy.
Editing a photo
New uploads inherit the patient's current clinical and marketing photo consent flags, so check the marketing tick before using a photo publicly. Press Edit to change a photo's date or Marketing consent tick and Save when finished; its kind and linked record can also be changed unless it is attached to a signed-off record or used by a signed map. Press Delete and confirm to remove an unprotected photo permanently; this cannot be undone. Photos attached to signed-off records or used by signed maps cannot be deleted. Replace a base photo or retake vial evidence on an unsigned map before deleting the old photo.
Withdrawing marketing consent
Consent flags for the patient live in the Consent card on the Details tab: Photos for clinical records, Photos for marketing, Marketing emails and Marketing SMS. If a patient changes their mind about marketing use, press Withdraw photo marketing consent in that card, then confirm with Withdraw and clear it from every photo. This turns off their marketing consent and clears the marketing flag from every photo on file after confirmation, so nothing slips through.
