The stock reports

Two reports: what moved, and what is on the shelf now. Both are open to any clinic member. Stock is held clinic-wide by design, so both cover the whole clinic.

Stock movement

What came in and what went out in the period, per product and per reason, with every individual movement behind it.

  • The per-product totals are summed in the database over the whole period, so they are right whatever the movement list below is showing.
  • In, Out and Net always add up. Out is shown as a positive number but is stored as the negative it is, so In less Out is the Net change exactly.
  • Level now is the running balance on the product today, not a figure derived from this period. Where the two disagree, the Drift tab of Stock levels says so.

Stock levels

A snapshot of today, so it has no period. Three tabs: All products, Low stock and Drift.

  • Stock valuation at cost is the level times the cost price on the product. A product with no cost price counts as nothing rather than as a guess, and the page says how many those are. The valuation covers every product held, whichever tab is showing.
  • Low stock is at or below the reorder level set on the product, the same rule the Stock page uses.
  • Drift lists products whose running level disagrees with their movement ledger. A product's running level is maintained by the database whenever a movement is written, so this list should be empty. Anything on it means a level and its movements have parted company, which makes the valuation wrong by that much. Correct the level with a stock adjustment so it agrees with what is physically on the shelf, and report it to us: a drifting level is a fault rather than something a clinic should have to live with.
  • Archived products are not held and are not valued. They keep their movement history, which is on the Stock movement report.
