Finding a change in the audit trail

The audit trail lives on the same page as your export: Settings > Data. This article covers how to actually find the change you are looking for.

What the page shows

The Audit trail section lists the latest 200 changes across your clinic's records. Every entry shows:

  • When the change happened, to the minute.
  • Who made it.
  • Table: which kind of record was touched, for example patients or appointments.
  • Action: a colour-coded badge for Insert (something created), Update (something changed) or Delete (something removed).
  • Record: a short identifier for the exact record affected.

Narrowing it down

Use the two filters above the table:

  1. Table restricts the list to one kind of record. Investigating a patient detail change? Filter to the patients table.
  2. Action restricts to inserts, updates or deletions. Deletions are the rarest and usually the most interesting, so filtering to Delete is a quick integrity check.

Going further back

The page shows the most recent 200 entries. For anything older, run the full export from the top of the same page: the ZIP includes the complete audit_log as a CSV you can search and filter in a spreadsheet.
