Alerts and notes

Alerts and notes let you record important context about a patient so nothing is missed at their next visit.

Notes

Notes are free text. Use them for anything worth remembering: preferences, conversations, follow-up reminders or clinical observations. They are timestamped and attributed, so you always know who wrote what and when.

Alerts and severity

Alerts are notes that need to stand out, such as an allergy, a medication, or a safeguarding concern. Each alert has a severity so the most important ones are visually obvious. A high-severity allergy alert reads very differently from a low-severity preference.

Pinning

Pin an alert to keep it at the top of the patient's record. A pinned allergy or contraindication is the first thing anyone sees when they open the file, which is exactly where critical safety information belongs.

Good practice

• Reserve high severity for genuine clinical risks so it keeps its impact.
• Pin anything that must be seen before treatment.
• Keep notes factual and dated; they form part of the patient's clinical history.
