Swelling and bruising after any dermal filler treatment can be expected, and can last up to 2-4 weeks. Usually it is very minimal, if at all but we would not advise any treatment 4-6 weeks before a big event e.g wedding in case you do develop bruising.

Please remove makeup from the area to be treated before your appointment. Avoid taking any anti-inflammatories eg. iubuprofen or nurofen which have not been prescribed by a doctor, fish oils, flax seed oil, omega supplements or vitamin E, 48 hours before your appointment as these increase the risk of bruising. Please never stop any medications prescribed for you by a doctor. For 24 hours before, and 24 hours after treatment, avoid alcohol or caffeine intake, or physical activity which requires significant exertion or becoming sweaty- this increases bruising and swelling risk. In the 2 weeks after treatment exposure very high heat (eg sauna, steamroom, sunbeds, hot holidays) was hasten the metabolism of dermal filler and increase swelling, we advise planning well in advance any dermal filler treatment to avoid this.
