If patients are nervous or apprehensive, topical numbing cream (EMLA) can be purchased in the pharmacy and applied to the underarms 30 mins before treatment- it takes 30+mins of application to be effective. The vast majority of patients do not need this, but it is an option if your are worried. The underarm area must be shaved 48 hours before this treatment. Please wear a vest top or loose-sleeved clothing to allow access to the underarm area.
