As we age, we begin to lose volume, fatty tissue and bone. At Dr. Victoria Clinic we strongly believe less is more when it comes to dermal filler treatment, to create natural, refreshing enhancements. We delicately place hyaluronic acid dermal filler with precision to preserve facial bone structure and correct fat loss rather than to 'fill'. Dermal filler itself is a hyaluronic acid gel; hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body. 1ml is a very tiny amount, equating to the size of a blueberry, so patients should never fear looking "overfilled". By the time we reach our 30s we have lost as much as 4ml in volume from our face, more if we add rapid weight loss. We only use premium brands of medical grade, FDA and CE approved dermal filler such as Belotero by Merz, or Teoxane. The product used will depend on your assessment with the doctor. We strongly recommend booking a consultation before filler treatment to make a plan to suit you and your needs- you can discuss your goals and treatment options and then think about it before proceeding.
Information for you
Usually at least 2ml is required at the first treatment to replace volume loss in the cheek area for patients aged 25-40.
Leave a minimum of 4-6 weeks between filler treatment and big events as the filler takes time to fully integrate into the tissues Please review the pre-care and aftercare forms on any booking emails to help you best prepare for your appointment. Swelling and bruising after any dermal filler treatment can be expected, and can last up to 2-4 weeks. Usually it is very minimal, if at all but we would not advise any treatment 4-6 weeks before a big event e.g wedding in case you do develop bruising. Please remove makeup from the area to be treated before your appointment. Avoid taking any anti-inflammatories eg. iubuprofen or nurofen which have not been prescribed by a doctor, fish oils, flax seed oil, omega supplements or vitamin E, 48 hours before your appointment as these increase the risk of bruising. Please never stop any medications prescribed for you by a doctor. For 24 hours before, and 24 hours after treatment, avoid alcohol or caffeine intake, or physical activity which requires significant exertion or becoming sweaty- this increases bruising and swelling risk. In the 2 weeks after treatment exposure very high heat (eg sauna, steamroom, sunbeds, hot holidays) will hasten the metabolism of dermal filler and increase swelling, we advise planning well in advance any dermal filler treatment to avoid this.
